A Prayer for Direction: Order My Steps

Doing,  thinking, giving, planning, fixing and pursuing…It’s easy to feel both full and depleted; overwhelmed yet yearning for more; seeking direction, guidance, and understanding, while set in habitual ways. Full of ideas and in need of the energy, resources or “know how”, life can feel like a tangled slinky. How long will it take to sort this. out? Is it even possible?  Maybe its too late… Should I try or just through it away? Managing confusion, anxiety and exhaustion along with the demands of life is no easy feat.  When we don't know the “next right move” and are trying to figure out why, how, how much and how long, may we seek God’s face and His spirit to gain the clarity and strength to move on.

Dear Lord,

There is so much to do.

The list keeps growing and it feels like time keeps shrinking. With each fear, worry, doubt and failure comes the question, “How is this all going to work out?”

I can’t do it all, while being all, and giving all. I am exhausted and don’t see the way.

I don’t have the answers and it’s becoming harder and harder to try to my best.

My heart seeks You, I want my life to bring Glory to You. My desire is to leave a legacy of strength and provision that inspires hope within my family and without.

Please lead me and guide me in the path of righteousness. Please order my steps.

I acknowledge that I need You: Your spirit, discernment, energy, guidance and favor.

I believe in faith that You are with me. You will never fail me or abandon me.

You know my weaknesses and flaws, and You love me unconditionally, accepting me as I am.

You have all the answers, You know the plan, and  You understand why so I open my heart and mind to hear from you today.

I place my trust in You to order my steps and will do all that I can with the knowledge and resources I have to move in the direction you have called me to.

Anchored in hope, I ask that You coat every fiber of my being with Your peace.

I stand strong in Your ordained timing and purpose for my life and decree that no weapon formed against me or my family, be it emotional, spiritual, financial, or physical, will prosper.

I thank You in advance for provision, opportunity, healing, connection, restoration and strength.

Thank you for showing me the way in Jesus Name I pray,

Amen

Psalm 119:133

Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Ephesians 2: 1-9

1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[b] 4 But[c] God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Proverbs 16:1-9

To humans belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.2 All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. 4 The Lord works out everything to its proper end— even the wicked for a day of disaster. 5  The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished. 6 Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the Lord evil is avoided. 7 When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way, he causes their enemies to make peace with them. 8 Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice. 9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
